Senior Software Developer
Plugged in: October 20, 2016
I have a passion for developing software and delivering a quality product to my end-users. If the end-user is not happy, I’m not. It does not set with me well, knowing something is wrong with code I’ve finished. I will not stop thinking about something until it is fixed. Luckily, I have honed my skills enough over the years to where I just drive myself crazy, instead of the end-user.
I have a beautiful wife and two daughters, and they are everything to me. I enjoy spending time with my family. We try our best to meetup with family in town at least once a week to go out and eat or hang out. I honestly am out of touch with my personal hobbies for the time being, so I consider work my ultimate free-time to develop my skills. I do occasionally find myself absorbed in tutorials or books at home and am constantly learning. I have done my best to not let my work life interfere with home the past several years as it is very hard for me to put work down once I pick it up.
I do love water skiing, snow skiing, hunting, fishing, and a myriad of outdoor activities, however my main focus now is to my youngest, so if anybody has a boat let me know. I really need to get out of the house more. As the baby is older we will be free to roam around more, but I love her dearly regardless.
How do you explain your job to people who know very little about the Internet?
I usually draw a diagram, or I give a very high level explanation as I want them to visualize what I am talking about without stressing them out.
Who is your favorite Internet celebrity?
Scott Hanselman (www.hanselman.com). He has always been there for me through thick and thin with great examples.
What unique quality do you possess that you believe makes you good at your job?
I am very spirited and try to stay calm and relaxed. I don’t let things crush my hopes easy, no matter how tough things get. However, like anybody, some things can get the best of me.
What is your favorite thing about the Suite 400 space?
So far the icon looking signs above all the door entrances are pretty stylin’, but I’m sure the people will grow on me more over time.
Tell us one unique fact about your hometown, the place your family is originally from or a place you have lived in over the years.
I was originally born in Flordia, but lived in Cleveland, TN for most of my life. That was an extremely small town with more churches per capita than anywhere else on earth. That is why I started out doing church websites I suppose. However, that was definitely not a town for me, I moved away as soon as I was presented with the chance. Also, it is the most pollenated place on earth and I have bad allergies. How many facts was that?
